QUEEN ADA CHIDINMA EBERE |
QUEEN OBASUYI FRANSCISCA EMERGED AS FIRST RUNNER UP FOR MISS CULTURE NIGERIA 2014 AND QUEEN OGBU ROSEMARY CHIAMAKA EMERGED AS SECOND RUNNER UP MISS CULTURE NIGERIA 2014.
The just concluded Miss Culture Nigeria 2014 pageant was a fine success regardless the storm it faced.
It was a
time harsh lessons were learnt night and day both with the organizers and the contestants,
these lessons opened up to us all a better view of life and that determination
is key to vision, its destination and actualization. The event was almost
called off few days to the grand final with the fact that none of the cooperate society
invited for sponsorship nor the ones that promised turned up on their words.
On the other hand, the Government was too busy with their primary elections and
that was the language resounding through every Government offices Nationwide as
far as we could reach. But thanks to the Honorable Minister of Culture/Tourism
and National Orientation, Chief Edem Duke for his endorsement on the Miss
Culture Nigeria project. And thanks also to Director General, Nigerian Tourism
Development Corporation (NTDC) Mrs. Sally Mbanefo, who showed interest at
first.
We are passionate about Culture development
and as culture is defined as the way of life of the people, we believe that
culture development is a key to societal development, a key to infrastructure
development and a key to improved moral standard and good Governance. So it is of importance that the
Government supports and endorses culture development events in Nigeria, because
that’s the only hope of bringing our people back from “limbo” to embrace our
good old culture that makes us Nigerians, that is our identity and it is far
from the culture Nigerians are known with today. The change of Nigeria has to
start with the change of our mind set, corruption was never our culture; truth
be told.
The success story of Miss Culture
Nigeria 2014 cannot be narrated without emphasis on the Government and people of Akwa-Ibom
State. It was no doubt that even though we couldn’t get an appointment with the Governor due to political reasons,
the development level and the minds of the people of Akwa-Ibom state made
things very easy for the team. Judging from the state we were coming from, this was strange to us,
the love and joy that exist in Akwa-Ibom is second to none. Governor Godswill
Akpabio is really the will of God for Akwa-Ibom and I personally will encourage
every Ibomite to stand by the successor he presents because he has a vision for
Akwa-Ibom.
The permanent secretary, Ministry
of Culture and Tourism Akwa-Ibom, Lady Sylvia Ekpo is not left out for her
motherly role and encouragement. Though she was new in office, but she was able
to provide us with the finest Ibom dances that came to add color and showed us
the beautiful culture of the Ibomites.
