National Youth Council Nigeria (N.Y.C.N)
is a council put together by well meaning Nigerians in the year 1963 by leaders
who has understood the importance of the strength and the role of youths in
every nation around the world. The Noble call for a leader to lead the youths
of this nation through its all responsibilities will and only be obeyed at all
cost when the said leader fits into the criteria in the first place of becoming
the leader of these patriotic youths of this country.
Recently, the National Youth Council of Nigeria
election was flagged on with great anticipation of who becomes the President
that will champion the affairs of the great Youths of this country. The candidate that campaigned for this prestigious position were:
Jibril Hamza
Danpullo
Abdullahi
Abdulmagid
The issues of this country will change when the people can stand up for
truth, honesty and sincerity. In the other way around, the issues of this
country will have tremendous transformation if our leaders respects the right
of the youths of this great country Nigeria and if they stay out from the
affairs and politics of the National Youth Council Elections. It is sad that in
a country like Nigeria, godfatherism can go so deep even affecting or
determining the election of the Youths president. Firstly and sadly, the NYCN
election was not conducted but a president was nominated without a proper
election that should allow the qualified person with proper qualifications assume the office as the NYCN president. Yakubu Shendam was appointed as
president of the National Youth Council of Nigeria on the 26th of
May by the Benue State Governor; Gov. Gabriel Suswan and since then he has
payed courtesy visit to the Minister of Youths Development Hon. Inuwa
Abdulakadir who ascertained that the NYCN election was credible, also free and
fair.
Now the question here is; why will the
office of the president of the National Youth Council of Nigeria be on
appointment instead of an election?
Why will political parties and militancy
play a role in the NYCN election?
Why will a candidate of over 37yrs,
which already has contradicted the age range for running for this office in the
first place, win the NYCN election?
Why will the office of the NYCN be used
to compensate former PA’s or former employee's? What happened here is, the
office of the National Youth Council of Nigeria have been marginalize by
leaders who controls the elections of who becomes the NYCN president and this
has to stop. Bamanga Tukur who is the PDP National Chairman brought Yakubu Shendam who
was his PA to become the president of NYCN and this cannot work because even if
they have appointed him without any election, the Nigerian Youths cannot fold
hands and watch our future tampered with by shameless leaders who believe they
can do and undo anything they wish in this country; it is high time we the youths rose up
to put an end to situations like this.
Reasons why
Yakubu Shendam cannot be the president of the National Youth Council of Nigeria
NYCN; Yakubu Shendam was not elected by the youths
and people of this country, Yakubu Shendam doesn’t fall within the age range
eligible for the election of this office, Yakubu Shendam will not be recognised
the international community, the United Nations, the European Union because he
wasn’t elected lawfully, even if Yakubu Shendam claims to be 34yrs old he still
cannot run for an office of 4yrs because he has only 1yr to be 35 which still
makes him not eligible for that office of the Youths president, Yakubu Shendam
is not recognised by National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), There wasn’t any
election that was conducted that proved Yakubu Shendam as the NYCN president.
My advice to Yakubu Shendam is to respect the law and step down and wait for an election in the next 90days that will ascertain the eligible winner of the NYCN election 2013
Youth has a vital role in nation building and if we cannot have a free
and fair foundation then I wonder what nation we will be building on a
manipulated foundation. We are the youths and we remain the strength of our
nation, it is time for us to bring an end to this unlawfulness of some leaders
show believes that our great country Nigeria is their chess board. Stand up
Nigerian youths, Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In a country were the everything about election and electing the appropriate candidate for a public office is not credible, it is difficult to get the true leader for that particular office.
